Sony trying to survive in the tablet market by dropping price of tablet S models by $100. The 16 GB version of Sony tablet S is now available for $399.99 and the 32 GB model for $499.99 reduced by $100 from its original price as displayed in the Sony’s online store.
Currently Apple’s owns more than 61 percent of tablet market in the world. Previously Motorola Xyboard, BlackBerry PlayBook and HP TouchPad also reduced their price to compete with iPad. By this it is clear that every tablet maker has realized that pricing a tablet at the same price level of Apple’s iPad will surely break their sales.
The tablet S features 9.4 inch TFT touchscreen display powered by 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra-2 processor, 1GB RAM and currently runs on Android 3.1 Honeycomb but it is expected to get an upgrade of Android’s new OS 4.0-Ice Cream Sandwich. It also has 5.0 MP rear camera and a 0.3 MP front facing camera, micro USB port, SD expansion slot, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Presently 16 GB model of tablet S is available for 29,990 in India as Sony has not confirmed the discount in India but it is expected to announce the offer in due course. However the offer is only available in U.S.
