Sam encouraged by Mame display

Loan star Mame Biram Diouf stole the show as Rovers safely progressed through to Saturday's Carling Cup 3rd round draw courtesy of a 3-1 win over Norwich City on Wednesday evening.

Striker Diouf, on a season-long loan from Manchester United, bagged all three of Rovers goals on his first start for the club on a comfortable evening.

"I know he's only here for one season because he's a Manchester United player but he is with him, but it is pleasing," Sam Allardyce told Radio Rovers post-match.
"I've been lucky to persuade Sir Alex to let us have him so now I hope he can take this into the Premier League because it isn't as easy to do what he's done against Norwich in the Premier League of course but the encouraging thing was his in the box movement.

"His in the box movement was excellent and I think that in the end that is why he scored a hat-trick because you saw what he did was what no other player does here at Blackburn Rovers, when a crowded area is there he finds the space and drifts into it, and he generally does this by pulling away from the ball.

"He did this for the first goal, he pulls out of the way on the far post and then makes a run back in and knocks it in off Chris Samba's flick.

"And then the last goal he scores, he pulls away again, and it is a beautiful flighted ball from Morten and again it is wonderful night for him and a wonderful night for us."

Rovers are back in action at Ewood Park on Saturday in the 12:45pm kick-off against Arsenal. Tickets are on open sale,
