"Anna Hazare's fast will go down in history as an important protest. Despite being a 75-year-old, he managed to stick on to his fast for almost 10 days, which proves that he's mentally strong," said Ilayathalapathy Vijay in Delhi, where he met Anna and participated in the fast with him last Thursday (August 25).
He further said, "Anna is against corruption and is keen that the entire nation should stand united to get rid of this social evil. I'm glad to see that college students and young adults are actively participating with him. As a Tamilian, I wanted to personally meet him and congratulate him on his efforts. I feel proud to have been able to participate in the hunger strike with him. I pray to God that he give Anna all the strength and courage he needs to continue with his good deeds."
Vijay also pledged the support of his Makkal Iyakkam on the occasion. Meanwhile, Vijay will be in Madurai today to launch the audio of his Velayudham, directed by Raja.
A source says, "The audio will be released by two Vijay fans. Lakshman and his troupe will be presenting a two-hour musical concert of Vijay hits and Vijay Antony, who has composed the film's music, will only be part of it. He will be singing songs from Vettaikaran and Velayudham with the original singers. Genelia is unlikely to come for the event as she is in Pattaya. But she is trying hard to be there. The film has five songs and Vijay's opening song is Sonna Puriyathu (by Vijay Antony), a folk-based song with modern touch. However, Vijay has not sung any song in the album. Velayudham will be a Deepavali release."
